3-Hour Supersonic Flights From NYC to London Could Soon Be a Reality

3-Hour Supersonic Flights From NYC to London

Blake Scholl, CEO of Denver-based aerospace start-up Boom, has revealed that the company is working on a new supersonic jet. The jet will have the capability to transport passengers from New York to London in three hours and fifteen minutes, bringing a new meaning to the idea of a commute. Scholl also announced that Boom is partnering with Richard Branson and Virgin Galactic to create plans that will allow us to travel three times faster than in today’s planes.

“The first flight of the day from New York lands in London in time for you to get an afternoon set of meetings done, go out to dinner, and be home to tuck your kids into bed. It gives you a whole day off of a typical itinerary. That’s one less night in a hotel,” said Scholl.

It will be the first commercial supersonic jet since the retirement of the Concorde jet, which was capable of traveling at twice the speed of sound, at Mach 2.04. Convenience always comes at a cost and travelers won’t be surprised to hear that a round-trip on a Boom flight will cost approximately $5,000. That’s not all; the Boom supersonic jets won’t be ready until 2023, giving you enough time to save.
